Horse
Traders. As I
was growing up I met many a horse trader, Some
traveled and sold horses out of a stock trailer. I met
one way back in the 60’s when I started roping up town, As I
remember he was always a friendly sort of clown.
I
know there’s hoss traders than ain’t real square, But
Marv Jira is know far and wide as being fair. I
really don’t think he’d take you if he could, His
word’s as strong and solid as oak wood.
You’ll
see many colored horses when you drive in his yard, Bays
and grays, blacks and some the color of lard. If
your bank rolls getting a little lean, Marv’s
got the neatest tackshop you’ve ever seen.
He
don’t charge high prices like them other guys, His
way of doing business shows he’s pretty wise.
I
know where there’s one pretty happy little girl, I
bought my niece a good saddle there for a 100 dollar bill. Some
how it almost has to be against the law, To
sell new handmade saddles for the prices I saw.
Let
me tell you something that’s going to make Marv famous yet, I’m
so sure of it I’d even make a little bet. He’s
got some new kind of cream, That’ll
grow hair on a door knob it would seem.
Now I
ain’t really tryin to make a sale, But
I’ve heard it’ll even grow hair on an appaloosa’s tail. It’s
made for 4 legged critters, not a bald headed old fart, I
already checked that out cause sometimes I’m smart.
So
when your travelin 16 tween Plank and White Lake, There’s
one sure stop you really ought to make.
Whether
it’s to see a horse, new saddle or all the tack, One
things for sure, you’ll always want to come back. One
of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, I’m
betting Marv's a cousin to old St Pete.
Written
for my long time friend, Marv Jira
