and had 10 children.(But which ten) He passed away on 15 Dec 1941 in Kimball, Brule Co., South Dakota, USA.

His 2nd wife was Antonia Benedict a widow(1867-1964) Children and background unknown.

Bachelor, 55, Dies in Fire
Kimball - A fire, which burned itself out in the bedroom of his farm home,
claimed the life of William Konechne, about 56, sometime Sunday.
The body was found on the bed in the fire-charred bedroom of the farm home, seven miles southwest of here, about 1 p.m. Sunday.
 Investigating officials said the exact cause of the fire was not known. Konechne was a bachelor.

Jim died in 1965 living in Sioux Falls.
He was born in Winneshiek County Iowa near the town of Spillville which was a Czech community in 1880.
Lawrence James Kean, was born Quentin Lawrence Konechne.
There were eight children in the family:

Note-While the family name of Konechne is a mouthful for anyone not used to Slavic languages,
 the real reason the name was changed was due to WWI.
 Jim, Pauline, Richard and Lawrence left southern SD and moved up toward the Mitchell area around 1922.
 Getting employment was not easy since there was prejudice against Middle Europeans.
 Jim’s birth name was Valcalv Konechne and with a name like that he had a tough time getting work.
So he changed the family name to Kean by a proper court order I’m sure.
My dad’s birth name was Quentin Lawrence Konechne and he was not fond of Quentin.
 By the way the Ed Konenche referred to was a cousin of Jim and when
Jim changed the last name to Kean, well, Ed did the same.
He lived for years in Rapid City. That is why the name was changed.
